Salford University have announced that John Holland, Director of MediaCityUK, is leaving Salford Uni to run a media consultancy business in London.

Holland joined the University back in December 08, and was a former head of interactive tv and digital text services at the BBC.

Speaking about his contribution, Salford Uni said, "[John] played a pivotal role in preparing the University for the opening of its new state-of-the-art building in the heart of the MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays."

"John also developed a range of opportunities around private and public sector co-operation, establishing significant relationships with key partners including the BBC, BT, Autodesk and Nokia.
"

John said: “The MediaCityUK project at the University of Salford will open up unparalleled opportunities for future students and it has been a privilege to be part of this ground-breaking venture. I wish everyone involved in the project and the wider University every success for the future.”

The news comes just a few weeks after MediaCity's Jason Legget was made redundant from his role as head of Business Development. That news prompted speculation about the possible completion of phase one of mediacity.
